Evaluative Analysis

In my poster I have included many poster conventions in order to appeal to my target audience, such as actor/actress names, this should help attract other people, as actors/actresses have their own fan base; the title of the film which should give away a bit about what the film might be based around, the tagline explain a little bit more of the title, eye catching images this should draw attention to my poster and may attract more people to watch my film, critic review this will appeal to my target audience because if they s3ee good critic reviews it will urge them to see the film and the production blurb which will attract an audience because of certain well-known people that have a part in producing the film.

The representation I have created in my poster is dark and mystifying. I have created this look by keeping the image dark but the text white, to represent good and bad. This is because I believe this will appeal to my target audience. As well as that it should attract more people to watch my film, as everyone wants to find out more about anything they don’t know, henceforth I’ve gone for a mysterious appeal.

The trailer convections I have used in my storyboard are that I am including key moments from my film but they are being placed in a different order so they don’t give away any crucial information, I have placed the title of the film at the end of the trailer, the names of the stars are earlier on in the trailer so the audience knows who is going to be in the film which is a key selling point as people generally watch films because their favourite actors and actresses are in it or because their favourite director or producer has produced it, I have a powerful voice-over to draw attention to the key points of the film/trailer, I also have on screen text which gives important information about the film, including the stars, director/producers, tagline, title and release date, as well as that, I have added music which is essential in trailers as it can suggest the genre, style and plot of the film.

In my trailer I have represented my character as mysterious and dark, although my main character is not actually shown in the trailer for long, the awaiting and story of his arrival, as well as short clips more into his future, shows him to be an important and different character. The audience should be able to differentiate the protagonist from the other characters as the protagonist will be dark and evil, whereas the other characters will be good and the opposite of him.

The film company I have identified to produce/distribute my film is Warner bros. this is because they have produced many great films, with the same genre of mine, such as Harry Potter.
