Gender Representation in Advertising


The following objects might be ‘gendered’ through advertising, given that both sexes will use the product;

A sports car: for a man an attractive woman leaning on the car
A diving watch: for a woman a muscular man underwater
Bottled beer: for a man men sitting on a couch watching a football game
Toilet Paper: for a woman a woman in a cleaning crisis
Deodorant: for both sexes a person spraying the spray and attracting the opposite sex
Cigarettes: a masculine man smoking
An iPod: for both sexes’ people dancing while listening to their iPod.
Trainers: A man with loads of muscles jogging
A games console: bunch of guys friends playing and having fun
An airline:  For a man a bunch of pretty air hostesses
