Advert Analysis

In this advert there is a person and it is a man. He is presented in a way that shows he is dead with six knives through his chest. The advert is dominated by the man and I think that it is promoting that knives are very sharp. This is a high angle and it has an indirect mode of address. The areas of Maslow’s hierarchy’s of needs it fulfils are; security of body, resources, health.
Knives are featured in this advert because it is trying to sell them and show one way in which you can use knives.
The setting is in a bedroom.
The colours used in this advert are black and other dark colours to add a shadowy and frightening affect.
The lighting of this advert looks artificial.
The image has been changed else, there is a murderer on the lose that took this picture. The change in this image is that effect of the knives being deep in his chest. Also it has been edited with the writing on the image.

  1. Nishat, some good, initial observations here of how this advert is constructed to create meaning. In future you would need to look at the text and how that gives meaning along with what the overall connotations are and which persuasive techniques are used.
