Advert Analysis

The persuasive techniques this adverts uses are ‘humour’ and ‘rewards’.

Signifier:

The orange car is made out of cakes and all things sweet, surrounded by chefs/mechanics with happy, cheery smiles on their face. The writing says ‘The new Fabia. Full of lovely stuff.’ ‘Skoda. Manufacturer of Happy Drivers’

Signified:

Orange is known as a colour of happiness and the people with smiles show that they put happiness into making the car. The writing tells us that the car is made of happy stuff and that the company are manufactures of happy drivers.

Preferred Meaning:

The lighting is placed in a specific way to show that the car is made out of cake. The position of the camera is so, that all the car is shown and the faces of the mechanics are happy which showed they made it with love and care. The writing tells us that the people that drive the car and the people that make the car are happy.

Anchorage:

‘The new Fabia. Full of lovely stuff.’ ‘Skoda. Manufacturer of Happy Drivers.’
This tells us that it is a happy car and it is manufactured by happy drivers.
